PROV has a number of online indexes and digitised records which can be access from our webpage. Some of the online indexes and digitised records will be covered in more detail later in the program but all of the online indexes and digitised records can be found in PROVguide 23.
The online indexes and digitised records include Passenger lists, Will and Probate records, Education and Teacher records, Koorie Heritage records, Building Plans, Public Transport images, 1956 images, Early publicans and pastoral runs, Prisoner and Convict records, Divorce, Insolvency and other Civil Court records, Mental Health records and some records from Central Melbourne.
Digitised records allow you to download a copy of the record from our webpage, you can then save it to your own computer or print it.
Online indexes provide you with more information about records, which will then allow you to order the original record for viewing in our VAC Reading Room.
If you don't have access to the internet at home, then try visiting your local library, or the State Library. Find a list of public libraries here....
